01.The European Leadership Network and German Federal Foreign Office were exploring how Governmental teams might best test nuclear escalation scenarios; gain a common understanding of threat and response behaviours; and game known players and their behaviours.
Typically, governments are faced with little data on nuclear escalation events and must keep pace with emerging tech developments.
They were seeking, as the first port of call, prototype AI abilities that could generate and play-through international strategic nuclear decision-making scenarios.
Our Solution
02.Adarga’s Mission Engineering team worked closely with the users to develop a rapid decision support prototype, using Adarga’s Knowledge Platform (proprietary ecosystem of 35+ models geared for information intelligence) as a basis.
The AI prototype developed uses large language models to generate gameplay and drive the scenario based on open-source information. It enables rapid data ingestion, processing and response to the data generated by users.
By setting up a “world”, multiple countries, and key decision makers for each country, they are able to play through the interactions between their decision makers.
Outcomes.
03.- Significant time-saving and increased efficiency compared to traditional methods of scenario exploration, such as wargaming, that require high manual effort and expertise to setup, and time intensive to play.
- Improves situational awareness and strategic planning by integrating human-machine teaming and real-time scenario modelling.
- Removes human-bias from the planning, scripting, and gameplay aspects, and generates a detailed scenario from a free text description inputted by the user.
- Whilst the prototype was built with nuclear escalation in mind, it is possible to create other international decision-making scenarios with the tool.
- As a result of the AI innovation project, more work has been comissioned to further develop the tool.
