Carbon neutrality at Adarga
Adarga is continually trying to find new ways towards becoming more environmentally responsible in everything we do - from our small daily actions as individuals to our broader, long-term ethical policies.
Recycling, food waste composting, paperless offices, giving all our staff KeepCups, encouraging the use of public transport and sourcing ethical supplies and products are all actively pursued within our business to further reduce consumption.
This year, one major focus and commitment we have is to carbon neutralise our business.
We believe that carbon neutrality is becoming a key indicator of a sustainable, ethical business and is helping to ensure a secure and sustainable future for our planet through ethical and conscious business practices.
We have calculated our carbon footprint to generate accurate consumption figures for our fossil fuel energy use at our two offices in London and Bristol, including all business travel between them and compute power - the latter helped by Amazon and Google's ongoing commitment to ensure their AWS and GCP clouds will soon both be 100% carbon neutral.
With an estimated annual consumption of 32,407 CO2 kg, Adarga's intent is to offset this within any given calendar year rather than over a tree's lifetime. This means we will plant a rounded-up figure of 250 trees in 2019.
The 250 trees will be planted in an area of SSSI protected mixed woodland this autumn, with the landowner in support, and consent for planting being sought from Natural England.
